Incarceration Nation with The View Magazine
“Creating these pieces felt like a transfer of emotions. I wanted to authentically represent the women most affected by these issues, whilst educating others.”
#IncarcerationNation is a social justice and women’s rights campaign supporting women in prison. Through the use of powerful figures and tones of red, Jael created a 4 part illustration series portraying how vulnerable and anxious women in prison felt during the height of the pandemic.
These pieces featured as part of a virtual exhibition and auction that raised over £25,000, ‘Bleeding Heart’ being one of the purchased prints now archived by the National Justice Museum.
